Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii)
Ok, so I’m 24 hours and 5 minutes into the game. And BANG! I have the Master Sword, the music starts, the storyline blooms and all of a sudden it’s not just Zelda, but it’s the most ACE Zelda ever! I’ve crossed a desert, heading to a haunted prison, and stormed a goblin camp. Up until now the combat has largely been one on one, but now I’m surrounded by enemies and taking them down like a Ninja on Haribo – the controls flow and Link spins, slashes, strikes and parries, and what’s more I’m in complete control of it and it feels immediate and effortless. There’s never been a Zelda like this before.
Anyhoo, I came across a huge lumbering sub-boss and completely outclassed him, alternating between rapid-fire arrowshots and dodges and swipes with the Master Sword. It would appear Mr Miyamoto has been paying close attention to Orlando Bloom’s interpretation of Legolas in Lord of the Rings, because Link has grown up and become a bad-ass 🙂

Gawd, maybe I’m just rubbish, but I’m 12 hours in and I’ve only just arrived at the bit where you chase the goblins on horseback, and you reached that months ago. It’ll take me years to get to the end.

Nah – I was about 12 hours in at that point as well – I’m only about a quarter of the way through – it seems to be huge. Given that I bought it at launch, I really should be further along than I am 🙂
