Castlevania – Harmony of Dissonance (GBA)

Harmony of Dissonance CoverMeanwhile, back at the ranch: well that was exciting! Another save point, a giant merman boss (who was very tricky until he was introduced to my amazing crucifix + wind book combo) and then the third part of the map. It turns out I’d already explored most of the area revealed by part three, but onwards and upwards. So, I’m up the clock tower and at a save point outside yet another boss door.

While climbing the clock tower it occured to me how beautiful this game is graphically – loads of detail, loads of extremely fine artwork. The only thing which mars it is the horrible blue outline on the main character. I really don’t know what they were thinking.

  • Some of the backgrounds are absolutely stunning – especially up the towers and stuff. At first I thought AoS was a step back, but then you realise it’s more understated (less swirly stuff, mainly) but waaaaaay more detailed – bats flying the the distance, etc.
