Police reports are in.
The police clearances from Scotland Yard arrived this morning and I’ve couriered them along to our agent. The whole bundle is being pulled together today and sent by courier to Adelaide. So that’s absolutely everything we need to do.
Our sponsor still has a few non-DIMA related loose ends to tie up at the far end, but really all we have to do now is sit back and wait for white smoke or black smoke to arise from The Powers That Be.
On a related front, I broke the news to my employer today that we were moving. They were very positive and supporting, but obviously disappointed. Still, these things need to be done from time to time.
On the financial front, I’ve managed to reserve a sizable chunk of cash at a very good exchange rate from a company called HIFX, who are widely regarded as the best in the industry. It basically allows me to do a forward transfer – this means I can get daily advice from a broker on where the Australian Dollar is going in relation to the pound and then effectively “freeze” the exchange rate. I completed a forward purchase yesterday on a rate of 2.47, which is better than it’s been in ages. When you’re working with large sums, tiny fluctuations in rates can cause major differences in currency. It’s all too complicated for me.
So, onward and upward.
