Woohoo! Getting somewhere!

Latest dates are in from DIMA in Adelaide. Applications lodged between 28th November and 5th December are currently being allocated. Not only is this us, but we’re also at the top of the pile.

What this could mean is that things could now hurtle along at a brisk rate of knots, with medicals being requested this week, etc etc. It could equally, of course, mean that it’ll still take an absolute age, but what’s the point of thinking like that? :)

Anyway, what happens now is this. Our application is given to a case officer who does a preliminary check on it. This means that they make sure we meet the points requirements, check that the form is filled in correctly, and that all the correct supporting documentation is provided.

The case officer than requests more information (if something is missing) along with medical and police checks, assuming the points test is met. This takes an arbitrary amount of time, but seems  to be fairly short.

Our application is particularly complex because we had to prove the family relationship between ourselves and our sponsers and, well, they’re not known for keeping paticularly accurate records in the north of Scotland :)
